Villa Rentals offer Luxury for Less

October 16, 2008

These are difficult times that we are going through. The stock market is down, our dollar is shrinking, gas prices are up, and inflation is worrying everyone,   Are we entering a period of austerity, or simply an economic hiccup?  The travel industry is generally one of the first to suffer the consequences of poor economic conditions; so let’s just root for the best.

The good news is that villa rentals offer the consumer the most value for money. Even luxury villa rentals can be affordable when compared to luxury resorts and hotels.  Whether the economic situation is good or bad, whether it affects you or not, whether you are looking for a modest one-bedroom cottage or a palatial mansion, why not get the most value you can.WWW.RobertsVillaList.com has an extraordinary collection of luxury villa rentals where value is as important as luxury.

Here are some examples of Luxury with value:

Lismacue House is a 5 bedroom country house in Tipperary, Ireland. This stately manner house which dates back 300 years is set on two hundred acres of private parkland yet is only a 5 minute walk to the village of Bansha, and only 5 miles from Tipperary itself. Other nearby attractions are Limerick and Cork. Dublin is an easy 2 hour train ride, all making Lismacue House quite centrally located. The truly remarkable part is how economical old world luxury can be. Lismacue House rents for €1,250 Euro per night which translates to less than $350 US per night per bedroom.  This is truly an example of luxury with a conscience.

Fortlands Point in Discovery Bay, Jamaica is a 7 bedroom villa set on a stunning promontory, once the site of an old stone fort. From its breathtaking location on the tip of the peninsula, the commanding view encompasses the turquoise water of Discovery Bay on one side and the deep blue Caribbean Sea on the other. The villa has a fulltime staff including a cook, laundress, butlers, maids, and gardener. Fortlands Point has an amazing list of amenities including an infinity pool, 3 separate beaches, Kayaks, fitness equipment, even a squash court. The rate for all this luxury is less than $430 per night per bedroom during high season.

Vacation Home Expo – Atlanta

April 15, 2008

I have just arrived back in NY after spending the weekend at the Vacation Home Expo in Atlanta. It was literally the first public exposition/trade show specifically designed for the Vacation Rental segment of the travel industry. I was invited to be the moderator of a seminar on “How to book a Luxury Villa Vacation”. Imagine me, a villa expert moderating a panel of other villa experts. Look who thinks he’s nothing! It all went very well.

There were three very experienced and knowledgeable ‘villa experts’ that I had picked to be on my panel. They answered every question that was thrown their way. I have to thank Tim Warburton, Founder of WIMCO , Bobby Gibson, CEO of Villas Caribe , and Suzanne Pidduck President of Rentvillas.com for their participation, and valuable contributions.

It was great to see some of my old friends in the Vila Rental  industry like Nancy Anderson of McLaughlin Anderson Luxury Caribbean Villas, and Ron Davidson of INTERHOME. I even got to make some new friends like Jill Dean from Happy Vacations, and Mike Thiel of Hideaways International.   It was also a perfect opportunity to educate everyone about RobertsVillaList.com , my new web portal which will be officially launched on May 1.

My original company, the one that I founded in 1988, Villas of Distinction was conspicuous by their absence… I still like them anyway.

One thing that I have learned over the years is the value of relationships. I strive to make new ones, and cherish my existing ones.
